i used a $5 walmart fish tank and a single nikon SB-600 flash with a diffuser with a white feamboard background and a CPL filter on the camera to eliminate glare
3 things got the clarity one i used a nikon D7000 ... nikon cameras are known for there clarity two i used a very low aperture of F22 three i adjusted the clarity in post processing and played with the contrast and levels
using a CPL with a polerized flash (im not sure if your flash is polarized or not) severely reduces glare but a diffuser is a must to still get the overall coverage ... if yours is not getting a polarized flash diffuser (but for around $150 its not in everyone's Bidget)
what? nikons DX format is 28mm giving only a 1.2x crop and with only 16.2mp the pixel ratio is low giving no room for pixel bleed in contrast the canon EOS 500d (popular canon) has a 1.6X crop with a sensor of only 14mm with 15mp leaves very small space between pixels and canons processing engine is severely lacked and its noise reduction engine is simply blurring instead of image comparisons ... as my old photography teacher told us "in the world of DSLRs the professionals always use nikon and the salesmen always use canon"
2.8 is a good general lens and can be good for some portrat but for things where clarity and depth always use a low aperture of F22-F48... also using a slow flash speed of 1/32 or 1/64 than pushing ISO to 1600 or 3200 or even 6400 helps capture fast motion like water
That is true, but that's also not true about Nikon vs. Canon. As much as there isn't room for pixel bleed, nikons start to slip faster with lower ISOs so that is a trade off, because my instict is to shoot as low as possible with my camera (100, 200) but on a nikon (especally portraits) it looks awful compared to a Canon. I've spent a lot of time using both, and settled on Canon for myself. My teachers always shot either pentex or olympus (seriously??) so I come from a pretty uh... unbiased? view of cameras hahaha.
Ahhh I see I see. I guess I need to have a little more paitence with it! I get frustrated and give up easy. You must have a steady hand along with the hand eye coordination !
i own a canon 5D MKII and all arround the board from ISO 100 to ISO 32,000 on my D7000 is just as good and on my D300s it burrys the 5D MKII and my D3x ... IDK i dont think there is a camera out there that can touch the ISO 1600 quality at ISO 100 even
no i do portrat photography professionally nikon's real color in there D300s D700 D3 D3s and D3x line is what every portrat photographer uses ... well i have been to cimanars, meetings, gatherings, schools, learning centers and all that fun stuff for portrat photography and not a single one of the professional photographers there used a canon some of my favorite photos come from the photographer scott chruch (brilliant photographer and really nice guy and holds more daily deviations than any one else on DA) and his cimanars he clearly stresses the need for having the best camera for the job and his camera of choice (nikon D300s) cant be compared when it comes to picture quality and realism to anythign canon has ever produced and yes i do use canons on occasion and yes i always look at canons when a new one hits the market and no i have never really liked what i saw nikons are for the professionals canon are simply cheap and make good video but was soon beeten by the D7000 with that
its mostly about knowing the physics of the hole thing ... im not 100% sure actually how i take some of these shots but i dont do it by eye i mostly do it by mental timing from when i hear the object hit the water
