Description
the second part of my highspeed project has begun!
a super fast flash
im using an open air spark method with the spark quenched by a cold glass tube for flashes as fast as 1/.3,000,000th of a second and powered by a DC flyback transformer
here is my prototype!
i still need a trigger method but im working on that!
last night i made the primary capacitor ... its a rolled film capacitor that rolled out is 18 feet long ... i used vynal as the dialectic and tinfoil as the anode and cathode
rolled up its 44.7nf at close to 25kv (estomated)
my original plan was to make 2 and put them in series but i ran out of vynal
total cost of the cap was $30!

cool! I never would have though about making my own capacitor like that.
you wonder how long it'll last before it corrodes though
