i want to make something as realistic as i possibly can but i dont know what i should do! nothing too majorly complicated (no ... people,bugs, cars) because ill already have alot of detail to deal with!

Im working on a new desktop PC as my laptop is getting old

My goal is to create a computer capable of acting in 3 states, a supercomputer, a high end desktop and a eco comp

Here are the tech specs

CPU: Intel i7 Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition 3.3GHz (3.9GHz Turbo)
Chipset: Intel Z77
GPU: 2X nvidia 480 (yeah its a 2 or 3 year old GPU but its capable of some extreme shit!)
GPU (N/D) : Nvidia tesla C2075 6GB 384-bit
HDD: 4tb (4x 2tb drives split into a 4tb RAID) 7500RPM
SSD: 1tb (2x 512 for games, OS and renderers)
RAM: 32gb
OS: Windows 7 64 bit, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Backtrack 4 R3, and Tails OS
Cooler: CPU and the tesla is cooled with an 8 fan radiator ... GPUs are cooled with high speed 'silent' fans
PSUs: 1200W, 600W, 320W ... with just the 600W and 320W on you get 1 480 and all drives and all lights, with just the 600W you loose all but 1 CD drive and all the system lights

Now how do i make an eco mode? the processor draws 150W alone!

a raspi is a very very very low power linux computer the size of a credit card ... this will run off of the VUSB power from the 320W power supply providing 1 amp at 5V even when the power supply is off!

i will make a PCB that will fit in a PCI slot with 2 USB ports, 3 headphone jacks and an HDMI port ... the USBs i plug in my keyboard and mouse, one headphone jack goes to my speakers the other loops back on the speaker jack on my PC, the last headphone jack goes to a switch on my keyboard, HDMI port goes to HDMI in on my monitor ... where it automatically switches depending on what's on

giving me an 1ghz single core linux computer inside of a computer!

SO i have a $60 solution to how to make a super computer run off just 5W of power XD

Okay so i went to go check my business email and it would not load .... so i tried to connect via VPN to my office and i got in there but unable to log in there ... so then i tried to reset the mail server and no connection ... drove to our server cluster in virginia and it was dead ... power supply

REDUNDANT power supply ... after checking the hour counter it turns out that the first half of the supply died out 2 months ago and the less powerful backup supply died out today

WHAT IS THE POINT of a redundant power supply if it does not inform you that the primary supply is DEAD ... so it lasts longer but now no one can email me and if they try it will tell them the address does not exist ... SOOO i drove back and placed an order out that i cant pick up until monday

so i drove back and im here now with my laptop shoved into an empty port i am shocked is still enabled and im recombobulating my mail server lines to an old test server of mine

i have my mail server on its own ISP to prevent MX and shit but GUESS WHAT ... the cable going 150 feet from one bolted in router to one bolted in server is HALF A FOOT to short ... so i spliced another with cable thats not mine and its all just not working

so dont email me with anything but my gmails!!!!

now for a bit of bad news ... electronic engineering genius Hanz Camenzind passed away today

he created a chip well known to all electronic enthusiasts from the very young to the very old ... the 555 timer

the 555 timer is a very versatile timing IC that can make pulses either repeatedly or in single bursts from 1/1,000,000th of a second to several hours and more!
not to many production products used this IC .. the apple II, atari punk and several IBM PCs have used it but its most known for its use in small products and its use in the hobbiest community

the ability to adjust the frequency with just 2 resistors .. one for on time and one for off time and a single capacitor for scaling AND you can calculate exactly the frequency output using a simple equation has made this IC a very nice product

this was the first chip i ever learned to use and i will be the last person to ever give it up

i am aware it has no built in controller ... its a passive device so im half debating just connecting the RX+/- and TX+/- to just open i/o(s) but if thats wrong jsut let me know

if it helps the MCU im using to control it is an NXP LPC4337 ARM cortex M4 processor ... its chosen for its flash and frequency so stop judging XP
